90210 up for Teen Choice Awards

The 2009 Teen Choice Award nominations came out earlier this week. And 90210 is up for a couple of Awards! 90210 is up for both Choice TV Show Drama and Choice TV Breakout Show. Jessica’s costars Annalynne, Dustin, Lori, Rob and Tristan are also up for awards as well. You can cast your vote here.

The Teen Choice Awards will air August 10th on Fox.

90210 Season 2 Date Anncounced

The CW has released its fall schedule and 90210 will return on Tuesday September 8 at 8pm/7c. It will lead in the new MP. For the full CW schedule go here

90210 S1 DVD Release Date

TVShowsonDVD is reporting that 90210 Season 1 will be released on DVD on August 11, 2009. There’s no word on extras yet  or DVD coverart but I will let you know as the information is known.

Homecoming News

Fango got word about a pair of independent features spotlighting different kinds of crazy heading for big screens in the coming months. One, Morgan J. Freeman’s HOMECOMING, is played straight, while Luke Ricci’s HOW TO BE A SERIAL KILLER is pitched as a gruesome satire.

In HOMECOMING, Freeman (no relation to the similarly named actor) returns to the bad-girl territory he previously explored in AMERICAN PSYCHO II: ALL AMERICAN GIRL. Mischa Barton stars as Shelby, a small-town girl and former homecoming queen who’s just a tad upset when her former beau Mike (Matt Long) comes home from college for Christmas break with his new girlfriend Elizabeth (THE HILLS HAVE EYES II’s Jessica Stroup). Shelby wants Mike back for herself, and embarks on a campaign of terror to get Elizabeth out of the picture. Paper Street Films opens HOMECOMING in New York and LA on July 17, and expands the release in the subsequent weeks. A website will be open soon here.

‘90210′ Cast Volunteers With Habitat For Humanity

90210 castmates Shenae Grimes, Adam Gregory, Tristan Wilds, Dustin Milligan and Jessica Stroup volunteer their time on Saturday (March 14), helping Habitat for Humanity raise the walls of its 100th house in Pacoima, Calif.

Following the build, the cast met with the families of the community and their fans.

Additionally, in an upcoming episode of 90210, the students of West Beverly use their spring break vacation

as an opportunity to build a home with Habitat for Humanity. The episode will air on Tuesday, April 14.

90210 Picked up for a New Season

In the clearest sign yet that The CW will live to fight another season, the network has given early renewals to a half-dozen existing series, including Superman drama “Smallville.”

The CW President Dawn Ostroff began telephoning executives at Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Network Television about the decision Tuesday morning. The network could announce the news as early as this afternoon.

In addition to “Smallville,” the series renewed for next season are “Gossip Girl,” “90210,” “America’s Next Top Model” (cycles 13 and 14), “One Tree Hill” and “Supernatural.” While the solid ratings for all six shows made pickups likely, the renewals were not all foregone conclusions.

In the case of “Smallville,” producer Warner Bros. Television had been negotiating with series star Tom Welling to return. The CW’s renewal indicates the studio was successful in those conversations.

There also had been a question of whether The CW itself would survive for another season. In recent months, however, it’s become increasingly clear that the network has moved to more solid ground.

The network has had a decent 2008-09 season, with the successful launch of “90210” and the strong pairing of “Gossip Girl” and “One Tree Hill” on Monday nights. All three shows have posted double-digit Nielsen gains compared to their timeslot averages last season.
